Stanbyrne Cottages History
Stanbyrne Cottages began as a family home in the mid 1920′s. The main home is architecturally known as a “California Bungalow”. Stanbyrne is derived from a combination of the original owner’s surnames, Standing and Byrne.
Mrs Standing was well known throughout the district for her elaborate garden parties, as a result the property became highly regarded by the elite of the district for many years.
1995 saw the transformation of Stanbyrne into a traditional bed and breakfast, however the gardens remained largely intact and continue to produce colourful and exquisite displays year round to this day.
The meticulous attention to detail is evident in the restoration of the paintwork which include original features such as the ceiling roses in the rooms of the main home and also the plaster cornice. The Stanbyrne Cottage grounds are vast; they compliment the property beautifully and offer a haven of peace and tranquility where you can recharge those tired batteries in seclusion.
The year 2000 heralded the arrival of 2 fully self-contained cottages set within Stanbyrne’s spacious grounds and in October 2004 Stanbyrne welcomed the present owners; Greg and Sally Young. Greg and Sally plan to retain the essence of the property whilst bringing their own ideas and individuality to Stanbyrne.
The future of Stanbyrne will see, with careful planning, an expansion to the cottage style accommodation whilst retaining the overall friendliness that Stanbyrne through its gardens and ambiance has to offer.
